A COLLABORATIVE MAP

FOR EXPLORING NARRATIVES OF PLACE

AND NAVIGATING EACH OTHER'S WORLDS.

WHAT IS WAYWRITING?

A creative approach to sharing places and their meanings to us.

Waywriting uses the What3Words mapping software. This associates three words to geographic co-ordinates (geo-locations) to provide a starting point for pinpointing personal narratives on a map, and pulling together a community of writers connecting with their landscapes.

Places with specific co-ordinates have meanings and rich overlapping histories. Human or non-human, memory, encounter or dream; narrative patterns overlay the land like contour lines.

The process of telling stories, of describing the world, is cartography.

Building the map together matters.

To understand this world better, we need to make the spatial experience of our lives

a shared one.
